I'm not sure all those schools would have been allowed to join


the conference if things had gone down differently. Now I could definitely see BC, Syracuse, Penn State, Pitt, WVU, SC, FSU, and Miami be apart of the conference. I don't see Temple being included because the conference doesn't need 3 PA schools. Rutgers didn't add any value back then, so there really was no reason to include them in the conference. Given that VT wasn't a strong football program back then, I could see the conference go either way on whether to include VT or not. If the conference was looking to add a 9th member and Notre Dame wasn't interested in joining the conference, then I guess it is possible the conference could have added ECU to give SC a travel partner.
